  • Two River Democratic Club

    Tuesday October 13, 2009 

    The Shrewsbury Democratic Club will be hosting the next meeting of the newly formed Two River Democratic Club to take place at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 13, 2009  at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library on Broad Street in Shrewsbury. The new club is a combination of Democratic Clubs from Shrewsbury Boro, Fair Haven, Rumson and Little Silver. Sean Byrnes, candidate for Monmouth County Freeholder, will be the guest speaker.        Mr. Byrnes is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He retired as a Commander from the Coast Guard after twenty-two years of service. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and currently is a partner with the firm of Byrnes, Kirkwood in Red Bank. He is one of the founding trustees of the Parker Family Clinic and has served on the Red Bank Board of Education and as prosecutor in Atlantic Highlands. Mr. Byrnes will speak on “Prudent Policies in an Economic Downturn” after which there will be a question and answer period.  Everyone is welcome.

 

Fair Haven $477,000 for River Road Streetscape

(West Windsor, NJ) – U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) announced today more than $1.3 million in Recovery Act funding for neighborhood improvements in Fair Haven and Hopewell Borough.  Through the state’s Transportation Enhancement Program, Fair Haven will receive $477,000 to for its River Road Streetscape West project and Hopewell Borough will receive $917,000 for the second phase of its Streetscape Improvements Project.“This is another way the Recovery Act is working for New Jersey,” Holt said. “These projects will save and create real jobs today and benefit these communities for years to come.” The $477,000 for the Fair Haven River Road Streetscape West project will link two economic districts in the Borough by replacing failing sidewalks without handicap accessibility with sidewalks and crosswalks that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as installing pedestrian scale lighting along County Road 10, the main thoroughfare through the Borough.
