Thoughts from Council Candidate Christina:

Dear Friends and Neighbors

I am writing to announce my candidacy for Fair Haven Borough Council in this November’s election. My running mate Harold Baker and I are excited to hear your voices and advocate for preserving Fair Haven’s traditions, protecting green spaces, and building a safer, more transparent future for our town.

When my family moved to Fair Haven in 1992, I was riding my bike to Sickles School, earning badges as a Girl Scout, and spending afternoons playing rec sports with my friends. I didn’t know it then, but those early experiences—being part of a team, volunteering, learning to take pride in the place you call home—were shaping how I’d show up in the world.

Fair Haven is where I learned what community means. It’s where I met my husband, where we chose to raise our family, and where I walk the same sidewalks I did as a child—this time with my two daughters.

After college at Bentley University, I built a career in the tech world and worked in fast-paced, solutions-focused roles at places like Yelp and an IBM-owned business in New York City. But even as I grew professionally, I always felt the pull back to Fair Haven. In 2017, we came home.

As an adult, I’ve stayed closely involved in the town’s story—serving on the board of the Fair Haven Historic Association, supporting local events, and helping preserve the character of the community that raised me. I’ve also seen Fair Haven through a new lens: as a mom who wants safe streets, vibrant parks, great schools, and open spaces where kids can roam, play, and grow.

That’s why I’m running for Borough Council. I want to bring a fresh, thoughtful, and future-focused perspective to our town’s leadership—grounded in my lifelong connection to Fair Haven, strengthened by my professional background, and inspired by the next generation.

This isn’t just a town to me—it’s part of who I am. And I believe that with smart planning, open communication, and a shared commitment to community, Fair Haven can continue to be a place where families thrive and neighbors truly feel connected.

Together, my running mate Harold Baker and I have a shared passion for serving the community. As parents, professionals, and civic volunteers, we are eager to give back and help shape the future of the town we call home.

We look forward to talking with you about what you love about Fair Haven and what you feel needs improvement. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Christina Malecki
